Is your shower draining slowly or not at all? No one wants to stand in dirty shower water! Keep reading for ways to unclog that drain for a better shower experience!

  • First clear away hair from the drain, removing by hand. Hair is the number one culprit for a clogged drain.
  • Pour boiling hot water into the drain. This will help break up soap scum so that water can flow through freely.
  • The next thing you can try is baking soda and vinegar. Remove the shower drain, pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain then add one cup of white distilled vinegar. This will create a chemical reaction. Leave for 1 hour before flushing it out with water.
  • If there is still an issue, you will want to try snaking the drain.
  • The next option we recommend is the old plunger method. You will want to remove the drain and put petroleum jelly around the plunger rim to create a good seal.
  • Finally, if none of that works, try a chemical drain opener, such as Green Gobbler Ultimate Main Drain Opener. As a rule you should only resort to chemical’s if you have exhausted all other possible remedies as the chemicals can damage pipes.
Call the plumber. If none of these options work to unclog your drain, you will need to call in the professionals!
